Fifth GradeHomework Policy

“Homework is defined as any assignment that has not been completed during the school day that must be completed at home and turned in at school the next day.”

If a student has homework:

expected to bring home all books and materials needed to complete that work at home and return all materials to school in the morning. If the assignment is not turned in upon arrival the next school day, it is then considered late. This includes work that was completed but was left in their desk or book bag. Listed below is the policy concerning late work that will be followed.

Day 1 of Late Work - Parents will be notified in his child’s assignment log,
a behavior card will be pulled, and recess will be owed.

Day 2 of Late Work – Parents will be notified by a phone call, a behavior card will be pulled, and recess will be owed. If the assignment is not turned in the following day, the student will be sent to an afterschool detention/homework center.

Day 3 of Late Work – Parents will be notified by telephone, a behavior card will be pulled, and an afterschool detention will be given to the student.

Day 4 of Late Work - Student will receive an office referral.

If after Day 4 and the work has not been received, a score of 0 may be given for that assignment.

Chronic late work due to serious health issues or family problems will be addressed on an individual basis.
